ARA-290 (also known as cibinetide) is an 11-amino-acid peptide derived from erythropoietin (EPO), specifically designed to activate the innate repair receptor (IRR) without erythropoietic activity. It has attracted growing interest in research focused on neuroprotection, tissue repair, and inflammatory conditions.
Studies have shown that ARA-290 binds to the erythropoietin receptor (EPOR) and the β-common receptor subunit (CD131), activating tissue-protective signaling pathways. It reduces neuroinflammation, promotes nerve regeneration, and alleviates pain without affecting red blood cell production. It may also play a role in sarcoidosis treatment, diabetic neuropathy, heart failure research, and autoimmune disease management.
